Dallas, Texas - Ryan & Company, North America’s largest independent state & local tax consulting firm, today announced that Texas State Representative John Otto has joined the Firm as a Director. In this position, Mr. Otto will support Ryan & Company’s steady growth through strategic business development and analysis of multistate taxation issues.
Representative Otto has a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from Texas A&M University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He was first elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 2004, and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Government Reform, Vice Chairman of the House Committee on County Affairs, and is a member of the House Committee on Rules and Resolutions.
Representative Otto was appointed by Texas Speaker of the House Tom Craddick to serve on the Select Committee on Property Tax Reduction during the Second Called Special Session. During the Third Called Special Session of the 79th Session, he joint authored House Bill 3, which reformed the state franchise tax.
