British Columbia has issued this notice to remind fuel sellers that effective January 1, 2010, certain fuels will no longer be exempt from carbon tax or motor fuel tax. In addition, carbon tax rates will change on certain fuels and TransLink’s tax rate on clear gasoline and clear diesel will increase. Deputy collectors and retail dealers are required to calculate the amount of these fuels held in inventory immediately after midnight on December 31, 2009, and remit any additional security due, if applicable.
