The Ontario Ministry of Energy issued a news release entitled “Ontario Passes Legislation to Reduce Electricity Costs for Families and Businesses” on October 19, 2016. This news release contains general information on the legislation that provides for a rebate equivalent to the provincial portion of the HST (8%) on electricity for residential, farm, and small business use. The rebate comes into effect on January 1, 2017.
