Nunavut Increases Tobacco Tax Rates

The Government of Nunavut announced increases to the tax rates on the following tobacco products:

• cigarettes from $0.25 to $0.30 per cigarette;
• non-smoked tobacco from $0.20 to $0.30 per gram; and
• smoked tobacco from $0.20 to $0.40 per gram.

The increase was implemented to help reduce the consumption of tobacco products, and is effective March 15, 2017.  The official news release can be found in the following link:
