In April 2020, Manitoba issued Information Notice TAMTA 20-05, Tax Exemption for Status Indians and Indian Bands, Temporary Waiver of Signature Requirement, which indicated the province would temporarily waive the requirement for sellers to obtain a signature when a qualifying First Nations individual or band purchases and takes possession of goods on a reserve. This waiver, which was initially valid up to June 30, 2020, is now extended until the state of emergency declared by the province has been cancelled.
