Funding Amount

The Automotive Transformation Fund (ATF) provides capital funding to support the industrialisation of zero-emission vehicle technologies and large-scale investment in UK manufacturing capability.

Funding is intended to support the transition, upgrading, or establishment of new manufacturing facilities that help secure future zero-emission vehicle manufacture in the UK and build an internationally competitive EV supply chain.

Funding is accessed through a two-stage process:

• An Expression of Interest (EOI)

• A subsequent full application

Applicants do not receive funding at the EOI stage. The available grant is dependent on the proposed project and is determined during the second stage of the application process.

Eligible Applicants

Applicants must:

• Be a UK registered company

• First complete an EOI

Eligible Activities

The grant is designed to support capital-focused investment projects that help industrialise zero-emission vehicle technologies in the UK.

Eligible project activity is intended to support:

• The industrialisation of zero-emission vehicle technologies

• Large-scale industrialisation

• Capital-focused investment projects that support the UK automotive industry

• The transition, upgrading or establishment of new manufacturing facilities

• The development of UK-based manufacturing capability for zero-emission vehicles

• The building of an internationally competitive EV supply chain

The programme’s goals include

• Safeguarding and creating highly skilled jobs

• Attracting private investment

• Driving emissions reductions

• Securing future zero-emission vehicle manufacture in the UK
