Ontario has issued this notice to explain the point-of-sale retail sales tax exemption available for bicycles purchased between December 1, 2007 and December 31, 2010. The exemption applies to the sale of new or used bicycles, tricycles and unicycles that have a purchase price of $1,000 or less. In addition, the exemption extends to the purchase of related safety equipment, including bicycle helmets, reflectors, bells, horns and mirrors for bicycles.
