Ontario Retail Sales Tax Info Bulletin, “Business Numbers: simple, convenient”

The province recently issued this bulletin to inform tax payers about the Ministry of Revenue’s transition to one Business Number (“BN”). The BN is assigned by the Canada Revenue Agency (“CRA”). The Ontario Tax Account Number will be an extension of the BN that will combine two letters to identify the program (e.g., TR = Retail Sales Tax) and four numbers to indicate the number of accounts within each tax program.
