The Yukon government has announced its intention to lobby the federal government for the elimination of GST on certain supplies “North of 60”, including home heating fuel, power generation and the transportation of essential goods. This tax relief is being sought in order to help offset the impact of rising fuel prices on the already higher than average cost of living for residents in the Yukon, Nunavut and Northwest Territories.
