The government of Canada has issued this fact sheet to summarize the role and responsibilities of the Taxpayers’ Ombudsman, whose appointment was announced on February 21, 2008. The Taxpayers’ Ombudsman works independently from the Canada Revenue Agency, and is charged with upholding the Taxpayer Bill of Rights for service related matters.
