The government of Nova Scotia recently announced that, effective October 1, 2009, the provincial portion of the HST will be removed from basic home electricity charges. This tax reduction has been implemented in an effort to make life more affordable for families. The reduction will be in the form of a rebate equal to the eight per cent provincial portion of the HST on home electricity bills.
