British Columbia Finance recently issued two new Provincial Sales Tax (“PST”) Bulletins, Bulletin PST-118, “Vehicle Services and Parts” and Bulletin PST-130, “Fabric and Craft Stores”. The bulletins are meant to provide a collection of relevant information pertaining to businesses operating in the auto repair and retail industries. Each bulletin provides examples of taxable and exempt goods and services and discusses instances in which tax will be payable by registrants themselves under the section entitled “Purchases for Your Business.”
Besides the usual sections, PST-118, also discusses the PST implications of courtesy vehicles. PST-130 includes information that is common to retail stores like publications and gift certificates, but also addresses the PST implications related to sewing and other craft classes.
