Alberta Issues Special Notice Regarding Tax Exempt Fuel Users

The Government of Alberta has issued Special Notice Vol. 1 No. 40 “Tax Exempt Fuel User (TEFU) Numbers” to announce the extension of the expiry date for current TEFU numbers from June 15, 2018 to June 15, 2020.  Current TEFU cards will be accepted up to the new date, and no replacement cards will be issued with the revised expiry date.  The notice also indicates that information on renewing a card will be sent out by Tax and Revenue Administration prior to June 15, 2020.  A consumer with a TEFU certificate may acquire marked gasoline and diesel for use in unlicensed equipment owned by the entity, or for heating, exempt of tax when it is purchased.
