British Columbia Releases LNG Canada Project Exemption Publication

British Columbia has released Bulletin PST 212, “LNG Canada Project Exemption,” to identify various supplies related to the liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Kitimat, British Columbia that are eligible for a new BC PST exemption.  Effective October 2, 2018, supplies acquired in the province in relation to the LNG Canada Development Inc.’s project, including various goods, software, electricity, and services, will be eligible for exemption from PST.  The exempt supplies must be acquired prior to the October 2, 2025 cut-off date.

The bulletin provides examples of various items that are eligible to be purchased exempt of BC PST, and whether a change in use will require self-assessment of BC PST.  To obtain the exemption, suppliers must be provided with a completed Certificate of Exemption – LNG Canada Project (FIN 495).
