Saskatchewan Releases Information Notice on Energy Star PST Exemption Elimination

Saskatchewan has issued Information Notice 2018-06, “Elimination of Provincial Sales Tax Energy Star Exemption”, which outlines transitional rules for the elimination of the PST exemption on Energy Star appliances and residential heating systems.  The elimination of this exemption, effective April 11, 2018, was announced in the Saskatchewan Budget 2018.

Deposits made prior to April 11, 2018, on purchases previously eligible for this exemption are considered partially paid and eligible for the PST exemption.
