The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has released an updated version of the Excise Duty Notice EDN52,“Obtaining and Renewing a Cannabis Licence” to provide further information on the cannabis licence application and renewal processes.
Under the revised Notice, new cannabis licence applications will only be accepted by the CRA if the applicant has submitted their completed application to Health Canada. CRA will however accept a “No Objection” notification from Health Canada in the case of new cannabis licence applicants who submitted their applications to Health Canada prior to May 8, 2019.
In addition, the basis for the calculation of financial security has been revised. Also, licensees who wish to renew their cannabis licence are now required to submit their licence renewal applications within 30 days before the expiry date of an existing cannabis licence.
