New Brunswick Releases Carbon Tax Information

Tax Development Mar 20, 2019

New Brunswick Finance has released information regarding the implementation of the federal carbon tax in the province, which can be found on the webpage: Get the facts on the federal carbon tax.  Effective April 1, 2019, the federally administered carbon tax applies to all fossil fuels sold in New Brunswick, including gasoline, home heating oil, and natural gas. The province has also introduced a “Made-in-New-Brunswick framework for large carbon emitters,” which is an output-based pricing system designed to reduce emissions while ensuring that industries in the province are not placed at a competitive disadvantage.
