On February 19, 2020, the Honourable George Hickes, Minister of Finance, presented Nunavut’s budget for 2020-21.
This year’s budget focuses on developing infrastructure and growing the economy whilst preparing people for jobs and promoting individual and community self-reliance and well-being.
There are no new taxes or tax increases proposed in this year’s budget.
Nunavut expects a modest budget deficit as its population and economy continues to grow and reap rewards from its investments in various sectors, including tourism and resources.
