Tax Alert | Québec Property Tax Deadline Approaching

Tax Development Feb 11, 2022

With each new triennial property tax assessment roll in Québec, property owners can challenge their assessment by filing for an administrative review. The deadline to file for an administrative review of property tax assessments in the 2022–2024 triennial roll is April 30, 2022. After this deadline, the municipal assessment will be fixed for the entire duration of the roll, subject to only a few exceptions.

Key Consideration for 2022

The real estate market, most notably the commercial sector, has been affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic over the past two years. As a result, organizations with properties located in any Québec municipality at the beginning of an assessment roll in 2022 should consider requesting a review of their municipal assessment before the appeal deadline.

The following major municipalities in Québec will start a new triennial roll in 2022:

  • Québec
  • Laval
  • Longueuil
  • Sherbrooke
  • Saguenay
  • Trois-Rivières
  • Brossard
  • Repentigny
  • Granby
  • Victoriaville
  • Boucherville
  • Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville
