Pre-Roll Consultation Period
Alberta has released its Pre-Roll Consultation Period (“Pre-Roll”) dates for the 2023 taxation year. Pre-Roll is a unique opportunity for owners and agents to act proactively and obtain preliminary 2023 assessment values prior to the roll finalization in December and delivery early next year.
Pre-Roll also provides an opportunity to better understand and confirm next year’s property tax assessment for budgeting purposes.
Pre-Roll Dates
Calgary
This year, Pre-Roll will run from October 4 to November 4, 2022. Calgary portal users can log in and authorize Ryan for 2022 and 2023 online. Ryan must be authorized for both 2022 and 2023 to participate in Pre-Roll discussions.
Edmonton
Pre-Roll will run from October 14 to December 16, 2022. The 2022 Agent Representative Authorization forms are currently available and will be delivered to Ryan clients shortly by our team via ryanabpt@ryan.com. If you would like to explore this process, please reach out to us and request a copy of the form.
Other Jurisdictions
Many rural municipalities also offer a 2023 Pre-Roll period; Ryan will reach out to its clients directly for any qualifying properties in secondary markets.
Further Information
To take advantage of Pre-Roll consultations with Ryan’s expertise, property owners and agents must complete an authorization by the relevant deadline. Following authorization, the Ryan team will be able to engage in discussions with the relevant tax authority for the purposes of assessment review and potential appeal.
If you have any questions or require further details on the Pre-Roll process, please reach out to your Ryan representative or:
