Revenu Québec Issues Bulletin on Tax Audits

Revenu Québec has released Information Bulletin IN-135-V, “Tax Audits”, to replace the brochure, “Tax Audits of Businesses and Business Persons” that was published in 2002.

The publication discusses objectives, the auditor’s role, supporting documentation, time limits, and the audit process.  Audits can be conducted on- or off-site, and will involve discussions of potential issues, the provision of a draft assessment, the opportunity to provide new facts or information, and the issuance of a final assessment.  Each of these stages is outlined in more detail in the bulletin, which also contains information on objections, appeals, and other forms of recourse for taxpayers once a final assessment has been issued.
