British Columbia recently announced that, effective July 1, 2019, the dedicated Motor Fuel Tax on clear gasoline and clear diesel sold in the South Coast British Columbia transportation service region will increase by 1.5 cents to 18.5 cents per litre (from 17 cents). This rate change, previously announced in the 2019 provincial budget, was confirmed through the issuance of Notice 2019-003: Notice to Fuel Sellers in South Coast British Columbia Transportation Service Region – Fuel Inventory.
Following the increase, deputy collectors and retail dealers of clear gasoline and clear diesel in this transportation service region are required to determine the amount of fuel inventory owned at 12:01 a.m. on July 1, 2019 and make an additional security payment on the inventory. The inventory return and additional security payment is due by July 15, 2019.
