Washington, D.C. Tax Year 2022 Mandatory Income and Expense Report Could Present Risk for Property Owner

The Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR) for Washington, D.C. recently mailed notices to taxpayers informing them they are required to complete and submit their annual Income and Expense (I&E) and Rent Roll reports by April 15, 2021. Because of United States Postal Service delays and taxpayers continuing to work remotely, the experts at Ryan are concerned that clients may miss this important notice and subsequent filing deadline. All submissions must be electronically filed. Failure to file will result in a penalty—10% of the real property taxes due in 2022.

To access the web portal, taxpayers will need a unique access and submission code. If you have not received your code, please contact Ryan. We can assist in obtaining your code from the Office of Tax and Revenue. The TY 2022 I&E mandatory list will be posted soon. Please reach out to the experts at Ryan for assistance with these filings to avoid penalties and minimize your tax liability.
