On October 20, 2022, Governor Ron DeSantis signed Executive Order (EO) 22-242 to suspend deadlines for payment of property taxes for properties rendered uninhabitable or completely destroyed by Hurricane Ian. The impacted counties include Brevard, Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Flagler, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, Hillsborough, Lake, Lee, Manatee, Monroe, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Putnam, Sarasota, Seminole, St. Johns, and Volusia.
Property owners will receive their bills on November 1, and the payment deadline is now extended until May 31, 2023 for the affected counties. In addition, the discount period is extended as outlined below:
- 4% in the months of November 2022 through January 2023
- 3% in February 2023
- 2% in March 2023
- 1% in April 2023
- No discount in May 2023
