Don’t Miss the Missouri Property Tax Appeal Deadline

The Missouri property tax appeal deadline is rapidly approaching, and the window for informal appeal opportunities will close in the coming weeks. Counties such as Clay will be reviewing informal requests in May, ahead of the formal deadline. Taxpayers that do not act to lower assessments could see up to a 20% assessment increase.

Missouri law requires that property be assessed at the following percentages of true value:

  • Personal Property: 33.3%
  • Residential Real Property: 19%
  • Agricultural Real Property: 12%
  • All Other Real Property: 32%

In Missouri, the formal deadline to file a property tax appeal to the Board of Equalization is Monday, July 10, 2023. The local experts at Ryan have a proven history of successfully reducing property tax assessments and can assist with navigating the Missouri appeal process.
