Ryan's Transaction Tax Compliance Practice Earns SAS 70 Type II Certification for Rigorous Standards and Controls

Press Release Aug 17, 2009

Dallas, Texas -- Ryan, the leading tax services firm in North America, with the largest transaction tax practice in the United States and Canada, today announced that its Transaction Tax Compliance practice has achieved SAS 70 Type II certification. This certification attests that the business processes and IT infrastructure of Ryan’s Transaction Tax Compliance practice have been audited and meet the rigorous standards and controls essential for any third-party organization managing complex financial transactions on behalf of their clients.

With increasing regulatory mandates and guidelines for businesses, companies looking to improve profitability by outsourcing internal operations must have confidence in the reliability of financial reporting, the effectiveness and efficiency of their operations, and in their compliance with applicable laws and regulations. SAS 70 Type II certification represents the gold standard for companies providing outsourcing services in today's complex business environment.

Ryan’s rapidly growing Transaction Tax Compliance practice supports millions of transactions annually for premier companies across the United States, applying best practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness, while ensuring that these companies pay only their fair share of tax. This SAS 70 Type II certification is an important milestone in the continued growth of the practice.

“Ryan’s innovative approach to tax is recognized throughout the industry, and this SAS 70 Type II certification related to our business processes and controls in the area of transaction tax compliance strengthens our market leadership position,” said Dena Hall, Ryan Principal and Transaction Tax Compliance Practice Leader.

“This SAS 70 Type II certification demonstrates Ryan’s commitment to adhering to the most rigorous processes and protocols when managing our client’s transaction tax compliance operations,” said G. Brint Ryan, CEO and Managing Principal of Ryan. “Our best practices and standards for improving the effectiveness of transaction tax compliance have been validated, and I am confident that this certification will add even more industry-leading organizations to our transaction tax compliance client roster.”

The Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70: Service Organizations, commonly abbreviated as SAS 70, is an auditing statement issued by the Auditing Standards Board of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). SAS 70 defines the professional standards used by a service auditor to assess the internal controls of a service organization providing outsourcing services that impact the control environment of its customers, and issue a service auditor’s report.
