Dallas, Texas – Ryan, the leading tax services firm in North America, with the largest transaction tax practice in the United States and Canada, today announced the results of its innovative corporate wellness initiative that promoted fitness through an employee walking contest for charity. The Step-It-Up Walking Challenge involved 42 teams and 420 employees from three countries and 30 cities that competed to achieve the highest number of steps per person over an eight-week period. In total, the teams walked 183,535,657 steps, for a total of 91,768 miles, and raised $9,000 in charitable donations in the process. The challenge was introduced April 7th on “National Start Walking Day,” when Ryan employees formed teams and registered participants. The team with the highest number of steps per person won a $5,000 donation for the charity of their choice. The second and third place teams received $3,000 and $1,000 for their respective charities.

“We are pleased that our inaugural Step-It-Up Walking Challenge was such a success,” said Delta Emerson, Ryan Senior Vice President and Chief Organizational Development Officer. “Ryan employees came together in the spirit of physical fitness and community outreach to build teamwork and support our communities.”
