Ryan Director Darcy Kooiker Appointed to State of Washington Task Force for Data and Metrics to Evaluate Tax Preferences

Dallas, Texas – Ryan, a leading global tax services firm with the largest indirect and property tax practices in North America, today announced that Darcy Kooiker, Ryan Director located in the Firm’s Seattle, Washington office, has been appointed by the Association of Washington Business to the State of Washington Task Force for Data and Metrics to Evaluate Tax Preferences. The Task Force, established by Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill 5882 of the Washington 63rd Legislature, 2013 2nd Special Session, was formed to advise the Legislative Auditor regarding appropriate data and metrics that should be included in the tax preference performance statements to evaluate new, extended, or expanded tax preferences. Task Force members include the Legislative Auditor, an economist with extensive state tax experience, and representatives from the Department of Revenue, Association of Washington Business, and Office of Financial Management.

“Darcy Kooiker has extensive knowledge and experience in finance, tax principles, and accounting systems within a variety of industries for companies throughout the state,” said Don C. Brunell, President of the Association of Washington Business. “She is aware of the types of information necessary to develop an accurate estimate of the benefits accruing from the application of a tax incentive and understands the capabilities, costs, and burdens necessary to evaluate those performance metrics.”

Ms. Kooiker’s Task Force appointment is effective immediately, and the committee has begun drafting the requirements for future Washington state legislative tax preference performance statements.
