Dallas, Texas -- Ryan & Company, America's largest independent state and local tax consulting firm, recently hired Edward Bringhurst, longtime Nashville multistate tax industry veteran, to manage its new Nashville office.
In this position, Bringhurst will be responsible for overseeing Ryan & Company's Southeast tax practice, as well as provide client service, create business development opportunities and recruit qualified professionals to the firm. He specializes in providing multistate tax services to a variety of industries, including healthcare, manufacturing, professional services, telecommunications and financial services.

Prior to joining Ryan & Company, Bringhurst served as a Senior Manager for Ernst & Young LLP, leading the firm's transactions tax practice in Nashville. Bringhurst has 21 years of experience in the sales and use tax area. He spent five years with the Tennessee Department of Revenue, eight years in private industry, and eight years as a consultant. He received his bachelor's degree in accounting at Middle Tennessee State University and is a Certified Member of the Institute (CMI), Institute for Professionals in Taxation.
In addition, Bringhurst is a frequent speaker on state and local tax topics for professional organizations, including National Business Institute, Southeast Association of Tax Administrators, Tax Executives Institute, Tennessee Society of CPAs and Lorman Education Services.
