Former Missouri State Tax Deputy Director to Lead Ryan & Company's St. Louis Office

Press Release Dec 18, 2003

Dallas, Texas -- Ryan & Company, America's largest independent state and local tax consulting firm, has named tax veteran Randy Hilger as senior manager in charge of the firm's St. Louis regional office, which will open soon in the Clayton business district.

Hilger has 20 years of experience in the state and local tax arena, most recently as vice president of state and local tax services for the Joseph C. Sansone Company. Previously, he was a director of state and local tax services for KPMG; deputy director, Division of Taxation of the Missouri Department of Revenue; bureau manager, Field Audit Bureau of the Missouri Department of Revenue; and director with the Missouri State Auditor's Office. He is active in the tax committees of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Associated Industries of Missouri and the Director's Advisory Group.

"I am excited to be a part of Ryan & Company, and I hope to build on the many successes the firm has already achieved in this region," said Hilger. "I look forward to raising the firm's visibility, reputation and reach to better serve national clients with operations in this area. Many corporations that previously used their audit firms for state and local tax services are now coming to Ryan & Company for those services. Ryan & Company can provide the nationwide multi-state taxation expertise these clients need without the potential Sarbanes-Oxley conflicts of using their audit firm."

Hilger joins Ryan & Company to lead the firm's St. Louis regional office, to recruit new professionals to the company and to provide the firm's clients in the area with the entire range of Ryan & Company's state and local tax services, including income/franchise tax, property tax, sales/use tax, fuel tax, business incentives and unclaimed property.

"Randy's experience will be a valuable addition to Ryan & Company's expertise and our ability to service our clients," said G. Brint Ryan, managing principal of Ryan & Company. "Throughout his career, Randy has been closely involved with not only individual clients but also industry groups to seek clarification of or changes in state tax issues. His expertise and relationships will provide Ryan & Company clients the latest information on state tax developments, and an opportunity to influence those developments, not just react to them."
