D. Patrick Healy Joins Ryan as a Director; Will Lead the Firm's Unclaimed Property Practice

Press Release Jan 25, 2008

Dallas, Texas - Ryan, the leading tax services firm in North America, with the largest transaction tax practice in the United States and Canada, today announced that D. Patrick Healy has been hired as a Director to lead the Firm’s national Unclaimed Property Practice. Mr. Healy is a recognized industry expert and a frequent national speaker at major trade associations and industry forums across the country. He will assist Ryan clients with navigating the maze of state unclaimed property laws and regulations to effectively apply them to their businesses, and will be based in the Firm’s Washington, D.C. office.

Over the past three years, Mr. Healy built and managed the unclaimed property division of a national accounting and tax consulting firm servicing Fortune 1000 companies throughout the United States. Widely recognized as a veteran of the unclaimed property compliance industry, Mr. Healy has also worked in the unclaimed property areas of two of the Big 4 Accounting Firms, was an auditor with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Inspector General’s Office, and also founded his own unclaimed property consulting business. He was a founding member of the Unclaimed Property Professionals Organization (UPPO), an organization dedicated to educating businesses about unclaimed property laws and best practices. Mr. Healy has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Baltimore, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Mount Saint Mary’s University.

“Mr. Healy is a seasoned unclaimed property professional and a solid addition to Ryan,” said G. Brint Ryan, Managing Principal of Ryan. “His extensive leadership experience and wealth of knowledge in the intricacies of unclaimed property compliance will support and guide the continued growth of Ryan’s Unclaimed Property Practice, and provide our clients significant value and savings to their bottom line.”

“Unclaimed property has become a revenue-generating target for state governments, and the states are aggressively enforcing their laws,” said Mr. Healy. “I am tremendously honored to join an industry-leading Firm like Ryan to help their clients identify and quantify unclaimed properties that are potentially reducing their profitability. I look forward to supporting the rapid growth of both the Unclaimed Property Practice and the Firm as a whole.”
