Dallas, Texas -- Ryan, the leading tax services firm in North America, with the largest transaction tax practice in the United States and Canada, today announced that Dr. Robert F. van Brederode has joined the Firm’s leadership team as Principal to lead the international expansion and continued high-velocity growth of the Firm’s Value-Added Tax (VAT) consulting and recovery practice. VAT has become the dominant transaction tax throughout the world, applied in more than 140 countries, and will continue to drive significant growth and opportunity for the Firm.
Dr. Robert F. van Brederode will support Ryan’s premier portfolio of global clients, helping them meet the complex challenges of international business with an innovative suite of VAT advisory, consulting, and recovery services. He will be based in the Firm’s Atlanta, Georgia office. Prior to joining Ryan, Dr. van Brederode was the Founder and Managing Partner of an international VAT consulting firm. He has also served as a partner with a national accounting firm, in charge of its Netherlands VAT and Customs practice. He has more than 25 years experience advising U.S. companies on all VAT and Customs aspects of their global operations, practicing on both sides of the Atlantic. Dr. van Brederode has a distinguished academic career, earning a Doctorate of Law degree from the University of Amsterdam and a Master in Civil Law degree from Utrecht University. He is a well published author of books and scholarly articles, and is currently affiliated with New York University, School of Law as an Adjunct Professor of Law in the Graduate Tax Program.
