U.S. Department of Defense Agency Recognizes Ryan's Military Leave Program

Press Release Jun 11, 2010

Dallas, Texas -- Ryan, the leading tax services firm in North America, with the largest transaction tax practice in the United States and Canada, today announced that the Texas Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, presented Ryan with the Above and Beyond Award that recognizes employers who support a strong National Guard and Reserve force.

Additionally, G. Brint Ryan, CEO and Managing Principal of Ryan, and Tony G. Mills, President and Principal of Ryan, were honored with the Patriot Award for leadership and personnel policies that support employee participation in the military. These awards recognize Ryan for going above and beyond the legal requirements for granting its employees leave and support for military duty. Ryan pays enlisted employees the difference in the amount they receive from the government for their service and their regular wages for that period, for up to 18 months.

“The Above and Beyond Award is given in limited numbers and recognizes employers at the state level who have gone above and beyond the legal requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act,” said Colonel J.P. Hogan (U.S. Army, Retired). “Ryan is one of three award recipients in North Texas that will receive the Above and Beyond Award this summer.”

“While serving in Iraq, my family would have struggled to get by without this generous Ryan benefit,” said Lance Paulauskas, Ryan Desktop Administrator and United States Air Force Senior Airman (E-4). “I am extremely grateful for Ryan’s support of my military service and proud of the commitment they have made to the men and women who serve our country.”

“I am especially proud of Ryan employees who serve in our military,” said G. Brint Ryan, CEO and Managing Principal of Ryan. “When these outstanding men and women deploy, we will ensure peace of mind that their families are taken care of.”

“Receiving this award is a great honor for our Firm,” said Tony G. Mills, President and Principal of Ryan. “We are proud to provide this benefit to ensure our military employees are not impacted financially while answering a higher call to protect our country.”
