Dallas, Texas – Ryan, a leading global tax services firm with the largest indirect tax practice in North America, today announced that Forrest Smith, who is Of Counsel to the Firm, was reappointed to the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Board of Directors (“DFW Airport Board of Directors”). The DFW Airport Board of Directors is composed of 12 members, 11 of whom are appointed by the City Councils of the airport's owner cities—Dallas and Fort Worth. Mr. Smith is one of the seven members appointed to represent the City of Dallas. He has served on the Board since 2008.
Mr. Smith is a Partner in Ryan Law Firm, LLP (“Ryan Law”), having played an instrumental role in its founding in 2010. He provides state and local tax litigation representation to corporate clients and presides over alternative dispute resolutions in complex legal controversies. He has mediated more than 500 disputes to date and has practiced law for the past 60 years. He is admitted to practice in the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, and the State of Texas. Mr. Smith earned a Master of Laws degree and a Juris Doctor degree from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science from Southwestern University. In addition to his work with Ryan Law and the DFW Airport Board of Directors, Mr. Smith is Chairman of the Board for the Dallas Better Business Bureau, Honorary Consul General to Thailand, and a member of the Dallas Advisory Board of Compass Bank.
