Ryan Appoints Recently Acquired Thomson Reuters Property Tax Services Business Professionals to the Executive Leadership Team

Dallas, Texas – Ryan, a leading global tax services firm with the largest indirect tax practice in North America, today announced the appointment of 16 professionals from the recently acquired Thomson Reuters Property Tax Services (PTS) business to the Firm’s executive leadership team.

Joe Mulcahy, the former Senior Vice President of Thomson Reuters PTS, has been named Ryan Principal and Property Tax Practice Leader. He will be responsible for managing the continued rapid growth of the largest global Property Tax practice in the world. Additionally, he has been appointed to the Ryan Board of Directors. Mr. Mulcahy has nearly 30 years of experience in the property tax industry, previously serving as a Principal at a national accounting firm, an owner of a property tax services firm, a Director of Property Tax Services for a Chicago-based global law firm, and an appraisal specialist and hearing officer for the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board. Throughout his career, he has been a frequent speaker in front of boards, legislators, and property tax industry events. Mr. Mulcahy has achieved the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT) Certified Member of the Institute (CMI) designation, which recognizes professional achievement and distinction in property taxation. He is a member of the International Association of Assessing Officers and the International Property Tax Institute.

Mark A. Paolillo, the former Vice President of Thomson Reuters PTS’s Unclaimed Property practice, has been named Ryan Principal and Abandoned and Unclaimed Property Practice Leader. He will be responsible for managing the premier unclaimed property practice in the United States. Mr. Paolillo has more than 27 years of public accounting experience. He was previously the National Director for Unclaimed Property at a national accounting firm and has years of experience in the healthcare, biotechnology, technology, retail, oil and gas, and manufacturing industries. Mr. Paolillo has given many public presentations throughout his career and is co-author of the authoritative reference Bureau of National Affairs, Inc. Portfolio on Unclaimed Property. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Unclaimed Property Professionals Organization, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Tom Loban, the former Vice President of Thomson Reuters PTS Consulting Services, has been named Ryan Principal and Commercial Property Tax Practice Leader. Reporting to Joe Mulcahy, he and his team will be responsible for providing tax reduction and streamlined administration services to the commercial real estate market. Mr. Loban previously served as a Partner at a national accounting firm and a CFO and Controller for several real estate development, construction, and property management companies. Mr. Loban has appeared as a speaker before the Council On State Taxation, Institute of Real Estate Management, and Building Owners and Managers Association. He has also co-authored the article “Valuation Issues in a Greening World,” in the Journal of Green Building. Mr. Loban is a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Former Thomson Reuters PTS professionals Tom Brannigan, Steve Buck, Dan Galati, Joe Grissaffi, Susan C. Han, Marc A. Hartley, Shawn M. King, Shane Moncrief, Gary Rucker, and Jeff Tuthill have been appointed to the leadership team as Principals. Additionally, Joseph Mileti has been named Senior Vice President of Operations and Business Planning; Lucas Branyan has been named Vice President, General Accounting; and Richard Nearhood has been named Vice President, Legal.
