Dallas, Texas – Ryan, a leading global tax services firm with the largest indirect and property tax practices in North America, today announced that 25 of the Firm’s locations across the United States won 2014 When Work Works awards recognizing exemplary workplace practices. This prestigious award distinguishes employers that successfully leverage workplace strategies to increase business and employee success. The 25 U.S. Ryan offices recognized include Arlington, Atlanta, Austin, Bellevue, Bloomington, Boston, Burlington, Carlsbad, both Chicago offices, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Downers Grove, Glendale, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Overland Park, Pittsburgh, Providence, Sacramento, Scottsdale, St. Louis, and Tampa.
This prestigious award program is part of the national When Work Works project administered by the Families and Work Institute (FWI) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Applicants must first qualify in the top 20% of the country based on a nationally representative sample of employers. Two-thirds of the evaluation of applicants comes from an employee survey. Applicants are evaluated on six research-based ingredients of an effective workplace: opportunities for learning; a culture of trust; work-life fit; supervisor support for work success; autonomy; and satisfaction with earnings, benefits, and opportunities for advancement—all factors associated with employee health, well-being, and engagement.
In August 2008, Ryan launched myRyan, an innovative work environment that changed the measurement of work performance from hours worked to results achieved. The Firm rolled out myRyan as a major culture shift designed to reach even higher levels of client service and employee satisfaction. Since its inception, myRyan has delivered tremendous dividends for the Firm, its clients, and its employees. Ryan has dramatically improved employee retention and satisfaction, while demonstrating solid year-over-year revenue growth. Most importantly, Ryan employees have achieved the highest client satisfaction ratings in the history of the Firm, while enjoying the freedom to meet the competing demands of work and life.
“The When Work Works Award recognizes organizations that foster a culture of workplace flexibility and effectiveness, which gives them a competitive advantage. Their practices set them apart from other organizations,” said Lisa Horn, Director of SHRM’s Workplace Flexibility Initiative.
“These employers are making work ‘work’ in innovative and inspiring ways that set an example for employers both nationally and internationally,” said Ellen Galinsky, President of Families and Work Institute.
“These awards validate the strength of Ryan’s flexible work programs, policies, and culture in creating an effective and productive workplace,” said G. Brint Ryan, Chairman and CEO of Ryan. “I want to personally thank our associates in these 25 offices across the United States for this tremendous honor.”
