Dallas, Texas – Ryan, a global tax services firm, has promoted Dustin Davis and Walter Gardisch to Principal; also, Lee Ruiz has been promoted to Chief Legal Officer.
Dustin Davis is an executive in Ryan’s Communications Transaction Tax practice based in the Dallas office, where he specializes in providing communications tax and transaction tax reviews to clients in a variety of industries. Mr. Davis is a frequent lecturer on communications tax and transaction tax, and has appeared as a speaker for TeleStrategies and the Wireless Tax Group. Mr. Davis joined the Firm in 2005 and is a member of the Broadband Tax Institute and the Institute for Professionals in Taxation. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Finance from Oklahoma State University.
Walter Gardisch is an Operations executive in Ryan’s Toronto office, where he specializes in providing Canadian transaction tax services to clients in a variety of industries, develops and reviews Firm policies and training materials, and is responsible for the Quality Assurance program for Canadian transaction taxes. Mr. Gardisch joined Ryan’s predecessor company, Robert Brakel and Associates, in May 1997 and lectures on various Canadian transaction tax topics for Ryan’s Professional Development Program and has appeared as a speaker for the Institute for Professionals in Taxation and the Tax Executives Institute. Mr. Gardisch has written on sales tax issues for various Canadian tax journals and is a Chartered Professional Accountant after having received his Certified Management Accountant designation from the Society of Management Accountants of Ontario, Peel Chapter. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from York University.
Eliseo (Lee) Ruiz has been promoted to Senior Vice President and General Counsel. Mr. Ruiz has been with Ryan since July 2009, most recently serving as Associate General Counsel. Mr. Ruiz has managed many of the Legal department’s day-to-day operations, including its commercial contract review, corporate development, bankruptcy, and intellectual property matters. He previously served as General Counsel for a Dallas area public company offering healthcare benefits and for a Silicon Valley technology company developing online banking technology. He is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin (B.A., Plan Honors Program; J.D.). Mr. Ruiz has been actively involved with the Legal Hospice of Texas, a non-profit law firm providing legal services at no cost for low-income individuals who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness, recently serving as the Chair of its Board of Directors. Mr. Ruiz is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association, the Association of Corporate Counsel, and the General Counsel Forum.
