Ryan Named One of the 2016 Best Workplaces for Women in the U.S. by FORTUNE

Press Release Oct 25, 2016

Dallas, Texas – Ryan, a leading global tax services firm, has been selected as a 2016 Best Workplaces for Women by FORTUNE and Great Place to Work®FORTUNE’S second annual list of the 100 Best Workplaces for Women is based on employees’ assessments of communications with management, options for development and training, and support for work-life balance, among other factors. The ranking also takes into account how well-represented women are within the workforce overall and in management and executive positions.

“Earning this national recognition as a premier workplace for women supports our ongoing efforts to develop a world-class culture that attracts a diverse, highly driven workforce,” said G. Brint Ryan, Chairman and CEO of Ryan. “I am thankful to Ryan’s female associates for the trust, confidence, and energy they’ve devoted to the Firm and for ensuring we continue to set the gold standard for the tax industry by producing unmatched results for our clients.”

Earlier in 2016, FORTUNE ranked Ryan the number one company in America for flexibility, and also recognized Ryan as one of the Best Companies to Work for Recent College Graduates, and as a Best Company for Millennials (for the second year in a row). In 2015, Ryan was named by FORTUNE as one of 100 best companies to work for in America.

The motivation driving Ryan’s innovation and market leadership in tax is its commitment to attracting and retaining world-class professionals at all levels of their careers. The Firm offers a flexible work environment called myRyan, as well as benefits that meet the expectations of women in the workforce. The myRyan work environment measures work performance based on results achieved, as opposed to hours worked. Since introducing myRyan, the Firm has dramatically improved employee retention and satisfaction, enjoyed consistent revenue growth, and continues to achieve record-high client satisfaction ratings.

“This company is focused on results not hours or minutes worked. So I can have some flexibility with my location and start/end times for work. This is one of the most important things to me when choosing a place to work. I have a strong work ethic and am very self-motivated. The fact that this company trusts me to do the work I need to, and does not count the minutes or hours does a lot to help me stay focused, motivated, and performing well,” said one female Ryan employee in FORTUNE.

Ryan’s workplace culture has earned recognition 491 times across the United States since 2009. Internationally, the Firm’s offices in Canada and the Netherlands have also been named Best Workplaces by the Great Place to Work Institute.

“There’s a strong correlation between being able to talk openly with company executives and feeling like a workplace is fair,” said Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work®. “Traditionally, communication channels with leaders have been less available to women than to men. The Best Workplaces for Women do well at paving the way for those open dialogs, and as a result, women are more likely to feel they get fair consideration in their jobs and careers. Congratulations to these great companies—they are showing everyone how to create a great place to work for all.”
